Guides
Connecting your accounts
In the app, open Social Connections. Each platform has its own Connect button and uses that platform's own sign-in screen. Strider never sees your social media passwords.
- YouTube: choose Connect YouTube, sign in with Google, allow access, and pick your channel. Strider checks it is the same channel before every upload.
- Facebook and Instagram: choose Connect, sign in with Facebook, and pick the Page you want. Only Facebook Pages you manage can be connected, not personal profiles. Instagram must be a Business or Creator account linked to that Page. You can connect one without the other.
- TikTok: choose Connect TikTok and approve Strider on TikTok's own screen. Any TikTok account works.
- X: available on Pro. Choose Connect X and approve Strider on X. X posts are paid from your X balance (see below).
You can connect one account per platform. Connecting a different one switches to it. You can disconnect at any time; posts you have already scheduled are kept, and will go to whichever account is connected when they are due.
Scheduling a post
- Choose Click to Post, then Video or Picture. For a Story, use Create a Story on your dashboard.
- Upload a file, or pick one already in your library.
- Add a title (it names the post in your calendar) and your caption. One caption is used for every platform you pick. To give one social different words, open Change the caption for one social under the caption and untick Same as main caption for it. The preview shows each social’s caption before anything is posted.
- Tick the platforms you want, then choose Post now or Schedule and set the date and time. Times use your device's time zone. Basic can schedule up to 7 days ahead, Pro up to 90.
- Preview how the post will look on each platform, then confirm.
Scheduled posts appear on your dashboard and in your Calendar. You can cancel any post before it is sent, and the post goes back into your allowance.
YouTube is slightly different: Strider uploads your video straight away as private with your go-live time, and YouTube makes it public at that time. For the other platforms, Strider sends the post at the time you chose.
When a post fails
Your dashboard history marks the post Failed and shows the reason, in the platform's own words where it gives one, with a link to try again.
- Temporary problems (a platform being slow or busy) are tried again automatically, up to two more times, after about 1 minute and then about 5 minutes.
- The connection has expired: reconnect the account in Social Connections, then try again.
- The file is not right for that platform (for example its length or shape): the reason says what to change.
- A platform limit was reached, such as TikTok's daily posting limit: try again later.
A post that fails does not count against your allowance, and any X amount held for it goes back on your balance. If several posts fail at once, check platform status, or contact us.
TikTok settings
Every TikTok post asks the questions TikTok requires, using the options TikTok allows for your account:
- Who can see this post — for example Everyone, Followers or Only me.
- Allow comments, Duet and Stitch — any that are switched off in your TikTok settings appear greyed out.
- "This content promotes myself, a brand, a product or a service" — turn this on for promotional posts and choose Your brand (labelled "Promotional content") or Branded content (labelled "Paid partnership", which cannot be private).
By posting you agree to TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation, linked on the form. TikTok can take a few minutes to process a video after Strider sends it; check the TikTok app if it has not appeared. A scheduled TikTok post more than 24 hours late (for example after an outage) is marked missed rather than posted. TikTok Stories are prepared in Strider and finished in the TikTok app.
Your X balance
X is the only platform that charges for each post, so X posts on Pro are paid from an X balance:
- An X post costs about 1.4p, or about 18p if it contains a link.
- Top up from £10 under Social Connections → Manage X balance. Payment is handled by Paddle.
- The cost is shown before you confirm. It is held when you schedule and given back if you cancel or the post fails.
- If you move from Pro to Basic, your balance is kept for when you return to Pro. If you would rather have it refunded, ask us. See the refund policy.
Two-step sign-in
Two-step sign-in is optional and free. With it on, a stolen password is not enough to get into your account.
- In the app, open Your account → Two-step sign-in → Turn on.
- Scan the QR code with a free authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password (or type the setup key).
- Enter the six-digit code the app shows.
- Save your ten backup codes somewhere safe, such as your password manager. Each works once if you lose your phone.
From then on, every sign-in asks for a code, including Google and Facebook sign-in and after a password reset. Turning it off needs a code or a backup code. If you have lost your phone and your backup codes, email hello@getstrider.co.uk from the address on your account.
